In addition to being delicious, some herbal teas have health-promoting properties. Herbal teas are usually made from flowers, spices or herbs, which comes in different flavours and make a great alternative for sugary beverages.

The Ginger Tea

Studies have shown that the active compounds in Ginger, and Phenol compounds such as Gingerols can help relieve nausea caused by pregnancy, chemotherapy or surgery.

Ginger tea may also help alleviate headaches, menstrual cramps, sore muscles, and other types of pain.

Ginger Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 Tbsp Ground Ginger
  • 2 Large cups of water
  • 1 Small lemon
  • 2 Tbsp Honey

Add 2 cups of water in a pot and bring to a boil. Once the water has started boiling, you can then turn off the heat and add 2 heaping teaspoons of ginger powder to the water and stir to combine. Squeeze in lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of honey and stir. cover and leave to steep for few minutes before serving.

The Cinnamon Tea

Studies have shown that there are various health benefits to drinking Cinnamon tea. It fights harmful effects of inflammation, lowers cholesterol levels, and improves blood circulation. It is also found that cinnamon tea eases stomach discomfort, as well as helps to keep your mouth germ free, fresh as well as healthy. 

Cinnamon Tea

Ingredients

  • 2 Ceylon Cinnamon Sticks
  • 2 Cups of water

In a small saucepan, combine the Cinnamon sticks and water and bring to a boil, then lower the heat and gently simmer for 15 minutes. Remove the cinnamon sticks and pour the tea through a strainer to catch any small pieces. Serve warm with fresh lemon juice and honey.

The Turmeric Tea

People have used turmeric in traditional medicine practices to treat various conditions for hundreds of years. Studies have shown that turmeric is a good source for Manganese, Iron and Copper. Curcuminoids such as curcumin which is the active ingredient in Turmeric has bioactive compounds including common vitamins and minerals.Turmeric Tea

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Tsp Ground Turmeric
  • 2 Cups water
  • 2 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 Tsp honey
Add the water, turmeric, lemon juice, and honey to a small pot, then whisk together. Heat on high just until the tea starts to boil. Turn the heat down to medium-low and simmer for 10 minutes. Let it cool for a minute or two before serving.

Cacao Husk Tea

Cacao tea is good for your heart.  It is full of antioxidants. It is a strong source of magnesium, which is essential for heart health, and also aids in muscle and nerve function. Cacao tea contains iron and zinc. It’s a healthy fat and thermogenic. Research shows that the tea can even lower your blood pressure!

Cacao Husk Tea

Ingredients

  • 1 Cup water
  • 2 Tsp Cacao Husk Tea

Add cacao husks and pour boiling water into a french press, then cover and allow to steep for 7 to 9 minutes. It's important to keep the water as hot as possible to fully extract the cacao flavor. You can add milk or cream as desired.
